The other day I was walking down the street when I passed by a family on a sunny afternoon stroll. The two parents looked normal enough, but then I saw their 5 year old son (estimate) pulling up on a tricycle with a special seat, seat belt and helmet on... I'm not sure if the helmet EVER comes off of that kid... I mean, how in the hell are you supposed to get hurt on a TRIcycle? They're idiot proof, right? I mean, to tip over or fall off of one would defy the laws of physics. To tip over, that low to the ground, and obtain a head injury is even more of a scientific impracticality...
I so badly wanted to go kick him over and look at the parents like, "What? That's what you expected, right?". Then walk away smiling as if I had just done the universe a big favor...
Yeah I don't know why parents would put a helmet on a kid on a tricycle. I would only guess 1: he's "special" or 2: they're trying to build good habits for the future.
ReplyDeleteThe thing that makes me wonder is, are parents better parents these days or are they more scary. I wonder if there's a study that measures the average number children that get injured today versus twenty years ago when performing the same activities.
You know what though, if you did kick him off the trike at least the helmet would have been justified, unless the kid was "special" then that's just mean. Probably funny but still mean.
if you see them again you should. and phonz, i think these days ppl are worse parents, there are so many dif. "experts" tryin to tell ppl how they should raise their children, and so many ppl stupid enough to listen to them and they end up not understanding how to actaully take care of their children, and eventually these kids are gunna be expecting someone else to tell them what to do, we are losing our individuality and ability to think for our selves more and more everyday
